Let me share my experiences from this whirlwind adventure.
We began our voyage in Hanoi, the colonial capital that gracefully balances tradition and modernity. The streets buzzed with life—motorbikes weaving through ancient temples, street vendors selling steaming bowls of pho, and the scent of incense lingering in the air. I wandered through the Old Quarter, where each narrow alleyway whispered tales of dynasties and revolutions.
And then came the crown jewel: Halong Bay. Our cruise ship sailed among the iconic limestone formations. The sunsets painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, and the stars emerged like diamonds against the midnight canvas. I stood on the deck, salty breeze in my hair, contemplating the eons it took to shape these majestic cliffs.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the energy shifted. The streets pulsed with vitality — the Independence Palace, the Saigon Opera House, and the bustling Ben Thanh Market. We explored the Cu Chi Tunnels, a testament to Vietnam’s resilience during the war. Crawling through those narrow underground passages, I marveled at the ingenuity and determination of the Vietnamese people.
The Mekong River beckoned us southward. We cruised along its muddy waters, passing floating markets and stilted houses. I tasted fresh coconut candy in Ben Tre, and it felt like a sweet secret shared between cultures.
Yet, as much as I reveled in these moments, I yearned for more time. Seven days felt like a fleeting glimpse—a tantalizing teaser of Vietnam’s richness. I craved deeper conversations with locals and more bites of banh mi.
So, if you embark on this journey, embrace each sunrise, savor every bowl of pho, and let Vietnam’s stories seep into your soul. For within its landscapes and people lies a history waiting to be discovered—one that transcends guidebooks and postcards. Less

But, the Halong bay cruise was not so great, and the boat didn't take us around the bay like we expected.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the hotel in District 1 is central, but they gave us rooms with showers in the bathtub, which wasn't safe, especially for older guests. They changed it for us, but they should fix that. Breakfast was good, especially the beef pho. The staff were helpful the whole time. Less

Great tour through Vietnam!
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh is great, but I love Halong Bay the most. The cruise room is small but full equipped. The activities there is fun!
