In the first decades of the 19th century, French colonialists entered Indochina. In 1863, France forced King Norodom to sign a Treaty to place Cambodia under French protection and Cambodia completely became a French colony 90 years later.

In 1941, Sihanouk was crowned and then led to the champion of Cambodia's independence. On November 9th, 1953, France declared to return Cambodia's independence.

Culture

Today, Buddhism makes up about 80% population living and working there. How to get to Cambodia?

• Currently, there are many airlines connecting Vietnam to Cambodia with only 50 minutes for Phnom Penh and 1 hour 20 minutes for Siem Reap. But the most disadvantage is the high price, if you depart from Ho Chi Minh city, the price may fluctuate between VND 5 million to VND 10 million and VND 7 million to VND 12 million from Hanoi capital.
• And to feel the scenery, enjoy the local people's lives at affordable prices, you can choose the road to two big cities. But the time for moving by road is so long, it takes 12 hours to Siem Reap and 6 hours to Phnom Penh if you are from Ho Chi Minh. The price is a maximum of VND 900,000 for a round ticket.
• For domestic transport in Cambodia, tourists often use the bus which is both affordable and popular. If you just go around the city, you can walk or hire a bicycle for around 6 USD per day for one bike or tuk-tuk is a traditional vehicle in Cambodia and using tuk-tuk is a memorable experience.
