Legend has it…
Not just referring to the shapes of the three mountains, there is actually a myth underlying the unique name of Ba Trai Dao Islet. The local residents of Halong Bay now still tell the old story about the youngest daughter of the God falling in love with a poor fisherman. Her deep love empowered her to do something she had never thought of: stealing the eternal peaches from the heaven to give her lover eternity so that they can live forever together. As she was waiting for the fisherman at the place where we see Ba Trai Dao Islet today, God shown up and turned three peaches into three stone mountains. Chastised, the young fairy had to return.

The hidden treasure
Engulfed by tides rising most of the day, Ba Trai Dao Islet only reveals its own beach for 2 – 3 hours a day. It is beautiful with white sand and crystal blue water where on sunny days, visitors can see through to the bottom. Compared to other beaches on Halong Bay, Ba Trai Dao Beach is shallower and the water is just knee deep. Shaped as a bow embracing the islet, the surrounding peaks not only create a stone shelter for the beach but also add to its stunning beauty with abundant green vegetation and vibrant wild flowers.
