Vietnam Fine Art Museum

Vietnam Fine Art Museum is located on 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh district, is a national museum established by the Vietnamese government to preserve and present the country’s artistic treasures.

The museum was built under French Colonial, was originally the house for daughter of the French colonial elite who came from all over Indochina to Hanoi to study. After 1962, the government assigned the Ministry of Culture manage this building to preserve and display great works of art in Vietnam from prehistory to present.

The exhibition that was 1st opened to the general public in 1996, options not only modern fine art, but additionally ancient arts, that embrace completely different types of spiritual sculptures, paintings and ceramics.

Its architecture is a mixture of old French design and ancient Vietnamese communal homes.With campus area is 4200m2 and the display square is 1200m2. Besides the main office in Nguyen Thai Hoc, It branch is located in Hoang Cau street Hanoi. The Museum has a space for Children’s Creativity, a site for storage, a library and a centre for art conservation.

Vietnam Fine Art Museum preserved more than 20,000 works of art of which about 2,000 objects are on display, the content exhibition of the museum is presented into six major themes:

  •          Prehistoric arts
  •          Arts from the 11th to 19th century
  •          Arts from the early 20th century to present
  •          Traditional applied arts
  •          Folk arts
  •          Ceramics from 11th Century to 220th Century includes ceramic galleries from ancient ship.

More than 30 display room with 3 floors, the visitors is attracted by diversity artifacts. It is work of art of great originality, good taste and talented hand of artisans. All work brings the spiritual nation, traditionally characterized.Specially, the exhibition is preserved in specialist room with suitable condition:

  •          Painting collection: over 6,000 works
  •          Sculpture Collection: over 1,000 artifacts
  •          Collection of traditional art: over 2,000 artifacts
  •          Ceramic Collection: over 6,000 artifacts
  •          Collection of foreign art: over 400 artifacts.

Fine Arts museum is not only a priceless treasure of the Vietnam Arts but also fascinating cultural attraction for all visitors.
