Mia Pagoda

Son Tay is a town near Hanoi, it has many famous landscapes and historical-cultural relics such as Dong Mo Lake, Son Tay citadel, Duong Lam village, Va Temple Festival, and especially Mia Pagoda. Mia Pagoda is one of the 10 oldest pagodas in Vietnam and also owned many of the most beautiful statues in Vietnam.

Since ancient times, this temple is small in scale and abandoned. Afterward, Mrs. Ngo Thi Ngoc Dieu and her parents restored the pagoda then she is called "Mia Lady". After many years, Mia Pagoda was embellished many times and is now the current size.

Since ancient times, Mia Pagoda is still famous as a sacred pagoda. The pagoda architecture is also very massive. The bell was placed upstairs, cast in 1743, and divided into 3 compartments with 2 floors and 8 roofs. Every corner of the roof is decorated with blades, flowers and leaves are also carved in each pillow. Coming to Mia Pagoda, you will feel the village space with banyan tree, 13-meter-high Cuu Pham Lien Hoa tower worshiping Xa Loi Buddha.

Mia Pagoda has 287 big and small statues, including 6 bronze statues, 106 wooden statues, and 174 statues made of soil and painted with gold. The Trung shrine worships two large statues of Dharma protectors and 8 statues of Diamond Buddha. At Thuong shrine, there are caves made of soil. There are many statues around the caves, and in one cave there is a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that entered Nirvana. Tuyet Son statue is 0.76 m high and Quan Am Tong Tu is 0.76 m high here is also very beautiful. The Statue of Guan Yin is often called “Thi Kinh Lady”.
Because of such beautiful and valuable architecture, Mia Pagoda is ranked by the Ministry of Culture and Information as an architectural and artistic monument.
