Hon Lao Island

Lao Island (Hon Lao) locates at the impressive Nha Phu Lagoon, 17km north of Nha Trang City, with crystal clear water and romantic scenery. This desert island is home to over one thousand of lovely and very naughty monkeys, true to its unofficial name as Monkey Island.

Monkeys living semi-wild
Raising monkeys since 1983 for scientific study and now tourism, Lao Island is having the largest number of monkeys in Vietnam from initially 200 long-hair monkeys transported from Malaysia. They are everywhere on the island and tourists can even walk amongst them or offer corn to them. Many are young mothers with babies suckling at their breasts. Free of any leash or cage, some monkeys follow visitors and grab food or fruit on their hands quickly. Monkeys and other animals are participating in the circus with a clown as free entertainment offered every day.

And other joyful activities
The island is also a wonderful place to enjoy colorful coral and sea creatures in the sea, which are easy to access by scuba diving or snorkeling. The beach here always has calmer water and is ideal for the children. Other entertainments and recreational activities such as sea bathing, boat racing, car racing, horse riding, fishing, flowers, birds and golden fishes parks, etc. are available for visitors.
