Hanoi Opera House

Hanoi Opera House is located at No.1 Trang Tien street on the August Revolution Square, the center of Hanoi, near Hoan Kiem Lake and the Vietnam History Museum.

Hanoi Opera house construction was designed by two French architect name Harlay and  Broyer, was built in 1901 and completed in 1911. It is historical evidence that gone though many up and downs with the capital.

It has an area of 2.600m2, length 87m, width 30m, the highest point of the building above the road is 34m.It is renowned for distinctive design and sensiblecomposition.

The Opera House is an old theatre with French architecture and typical Gothic and Mosaic characters mirrored on the door domes and the glassed room respectively. There are 3 main parts in this building: the Lobby, Main audience room and Mirror room. The main lobby is the first place welcome visitors enter the house. It was made by the high-quality stone of Italy like the great tapestry. All small chandelier system is brass plated make this part become more luxury. Inside the opera house are a large stage and a main audience room with a size of 24x24m, with many small rooms for audience on the central floor. At the back of the Opera House is a management chamber consisting of 18 make-up rooms, 2 rooms for voice training, 1 library and 1 meeting room. The Main Audience is paved with high quality tiles and fireproof carpet. Seats are designed in classical French style of the nineteenth century. Mirror room is ritual room that frequent welcome high officials of the Party and State, the head of state.

Nowaday Hanoi Operahouse is stage for or all types of artistic performances, from folk music and songs, ballets and piano to classical opera, reformed opera, Vietnamese operetta and drama. The Hanoi Opera House is a worthy artistic centre and architectural relic of the capital.
