Located 6km from Da Lat City, Datanla Waterfall always lies at the top list of the most must-visit destinations in the city of flowers. It makes no surprise as the fall provides tourists with stunning scenery and imposing mountains around.

Covered an area of 312ha, not only a picturesque tourism spot Datanla Waterfall is, but also a home to many plants in preservation forests that help people avoid floods. The waterfall used to be called “Da Tam N'nha” by native people. Legends by Kho people who have lived there since the ancient time tell that fairies once used the waterfall to take a bath. But they didn’t know there was a flow beneath the leaves. Then locals found out a stream under the leaves, which is the waterfall these days. Afterwards, the word Da Tam N'nha was pronounced to Datania, and then changed to Datanla. It became the official name until today.

Datanla Waterfall

Datanla Watefall

At the foot of the waterfall, Datanla stream flows slowly through cliffs then flow onto a deep hole called deadly abyss located between two vertical cliffs with the height of over 40m. However, the waterfall itself is rather pretty, but not impressive. There are wonderful ways, through foliage, leading down throughout the levels of the falls that keep you from boredom when you just have 1 day in Da Lat. The audiences, the music, the kitsch decorations, and - all too frequently - the litter, are enough to put off people. In case you are short of time and wish to visit a waterfall in Dalat, Datanla will suffice. In addition, for moderate adrenaline addicts, this waterfall provides a hit. Try to visit on a cold day as the bad weather tends to maintain tour classes away.
