Cap La Fishing Village

Cap La Fishing Village, between Bai Tu Long and Halong Bay, is one of Vietnam's lacking national electricity systems areas in this modern society. If you seek to discover a less tourist than Vung Vieng village and keep the pristine beauty of a unique floating village among the bay, here is where you look for.

Where is Cap La Fishing Village?

Staying at the Bai Tu Long and Halong Bay border and one part of Cap La island, this village is the smallest of the 3 remaining fishing villages in Bai Tu Long Bay. Almost the residents here earn bread only from traditional fishing and aquaculture, and this is their biggest concern, so they don’t care if tourists are coming and just having fun. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a rustic fisherman’s life without the tourist business value.

Fun Facts You must know about Cap La Village

To do as Romans do in Rome, let’s glimpse some fun facts and customs in this village before visiting:

  • Although a floating village, Cap La is still a remote area where residents have to use power generators daily, so buying clean water and petrol here is challenging and expensive.
  • There are only 80 holders, home to more than 200 fishermen. Traditionally, each floating house is separate, though the raft or boat always serves more than one function: a home, a means of transport, and a source of income.
  • Children will attend Vung Vieng village school until 12, then stop working as fishermen.
